In this article, we will go through the steps needed to convert the Composer tutorial [Weather bot](https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/composer/tutorial-create-weather-bot?view=azure-bot-service-4.0) into a Teneo solution. Follow along to learn how concepts found in Composer are created in Teneo. At the end of the guide, you can also download the completed Composer and Teneo solutions.

## Create a Teneo solution
Building a bot in Teneo means building a solution. A solution is a container for all knowledge, conversational logic, and additional resources that make up your bot. We will start by creating a new solution in Teneo. 

First, you need to log in to Studio. Once you log in, the first thing you will see is the tab 'My Work'. This gives you quick access to the things you’re working on. As you have not yet created anything, nothing will be displayed here.

1. Once logged in to Teneo Studio, select Solutions in the menu and click on 'New'.
2. Set the language to English. This will be the mother tongue of your bot.
3. Under 'Solution Content', choose 'Create from Template' and select the latest version of 'Teneo Dialogue Resources English' from the list. This will boost your bot with lots of pre-built flows so that the bot will , right out of the box, understand and respond to greetings, meta-requests (like 'Can you repeat that?'), feedback (like 'Great!' or 'You are funny') and conversational small talk.
4. Click on 'Next' and fill in a name for your solution, such as `Weather bot`.
5. Click 'OK'. It may take a couple of minutes for your solution to be created. You will be notified when it’s done.
6. Open your solution by either double-clicking its name in the Solutions window or clicking on 'Open' when the solution is created.

## Greeting message
We need to start the conversational flow of the bot by giving the user some direction for how to prompt the weather flow. We can do this in one of two ways:

1. Adjusting the Greeting message
2. Creating a Prompt flow

### Option 1 - Adjust Greeting message
The Greeting message flow is the first flow to trigger when a user begins a dialog with your bot. This is the place where a bot should introduce itself and lay down the scope of the conversation. The Dialogue Resources include a pre-built greeting located in the top-level folder Greeting Message.

The flow contains standard greeting responses and picks which response to send based on the time of day. You can easily adjust these responses to match your use case or remove or add responses. For now, let's simply edit the existing responses:

1. In the Explore panel, locate the Greeting Message folder.
2. Select the 'Greeting Message' flow and click on 'Edit'. This will open the flow in edit mode.
3. One by one, click on the output nodes (in purple) and replace the last sentence of each output with the sentence `Type "weather" to get started.`.
4. Hit 'Save' and close the flow.

### Option 2 - Create a Prompt flow
Another option is to create a Prompt flow to start the weather conversation. Prompt triggers are tested after the normal flow execution but right before the response is given. If a prompt trigger matches, the flow containing this trigger will be executed and the resulting output will be added to the response.

1. Create a new Prompt Flow by selecting the dropdown menu under Flow located in the 'New' section.
2. Give the flow the name `Prompt for weather`.
4. Name the prompt trigger `Weather prompt`.
5. Add `true` to the expression field.
6. Make sure the prompt trigger is set to repeatable - 'Once per session' (it will be chosen by default and can be changed in 'Advanced Options').'
7. Select the output node and add the following answer text: `Type weather to get started.` Give the output node the name `Type weather`.
8. Hit 'Save' and close the flow.

## Create a new flow
We will now proceed to create a flow (dialog) to hold the logic of the __get_weather__ dialog in the Composer bot.

1. Select the Solution root folder and click on Flow in the ribbon bar.
2. Give your flow a name like `Get weather`.
3. Add the description, `Get the current weather conditions.`.
4. Click on the back arrow at the top of the menu to go to the main flow view.

### Populate trigger
Now it is time to populate our trigger.

1. Select the trigger and name it `Get weather`.
2. In the Match section in the configuration panel, click on Add followed by TLML Syntax.
3. In the TLML Syntax field, enter `weather`.

### Add outputs
Next, we need the prompt a response that asks for the user's postal code.

1. Click on the output node and name it `Ask for postal code`.
2. Paste in the output `Let's check the weather. What's your postal code?`.

### Add flow variables
Variables are important when building bots. Not least, your bot's memory will rely on what is stored in variables. In order to store user's postal code, we will need to create a new variable. We will also need some variables to store the information we will shortly be getting from the weather API.

1. Click on the FLOW button to reach the flow backstage panel.
2. Select Variables in the menu.
3. Click on Add.

We will now proceed with creating a variable that takes the postal code from the user input and is later used together with the HTTP request. As an extra addition, we add a initial value for our variable.

4. Give the variable the name `postalCode` and the initial value `90210`.

Next in line is to create some more variables that will be taken from the Weather API we have called and used inside our flow.

5. Go ahead and add the following variables too, as we will need them once we call the Weather API:

6. Click on the back arrow at the top of the menu to return to the main flow view.
7. Hit 'Save' and close the flow.

## Create an integration
Integrations are a reusable set of scripts that can be written once and used many times within flows throughout the solution. Most commonly, they are used to connect to external services. 
Now it is time to create an integration in order to make an HTTP request to the OpenWeather Weather API.

1. Open the 'Solution' tab in the solution's main window and select 'Resources'.
2. Navigate to 'Integration' at the top.
3. Click the 'Add' button to create an integration.
4. Give your integration a name, like `Weather`, and then click on the back arrow to edit the integration.
5. Give the default method a name, like `Get weather`.
6. In the Inputs section, click on add. This will allow us to send information to the integration when we call it.
7. Name the input parameter `postalCode`.
8. In the Outputs section, add new outputs with the names `responseCode`, `resultCelsius`, `resultCity`, `resultCountry`, `resultFahrenheit`, `resultIcon`, and `resultWeather`.
9. Paste the following script into the Executon Script section of the Default Method:

10. Save and close the integration.

## Store API key
You may have noticed that the integration script references an API key. This is the API key you need to access the OpenWeather Weather API. We need to store this key within the solution in order to be able to access the API.

Log in to your [free Weather API subscription](https://openweathermap.org) and access your API key by clicking on your username followed by 'My API keys'. Copy the key to your clipboard.

1. In Teneo, in the solution backstage, click on Globals, followed by Variables.
2. Click on Add to create a new variable and give it the name `APIKey`.
3. Paste in the API key in the Value field. As this will be treated as a string, make sure to enclose the value within single or double quotation marks.
4. Hit 'Save'.

## Finish off flow
Now we can finish the flow by calling the new integration and adding more functionality.

### Extract the user's postal code
We need to make sure we are actually extracting and storing the postal code given by the user.

1. Go back into the flow you created earlier.
2. Under the output node, click on the Plus icon, followed by Continue with and Transaction.
3. The transition between the output node and the new integration node should now be selected; give it a name such as `Extract postal code`.
4. In the After Match section, add an After Match for Entity.
5. Paste in `NUMBER` in the Entity field.
6. Click on Add Mapping below the Entity field. Using the drop-down menus below, select the source `nNumber` and the target `postalCode`.
7. In the Match section, add a Match for Entity.
8. Paste in the Entity `NUMBER`.

### Add the integration node
Now we can set up the call to the integration in the integration node we just added.

1. Underneath the Extract postal code transition, click on the Plus icon. Select Continue with, followed by Integration. Choose your new Weather integration.
2. Give it a name like `Get weather`.
3. Now you will need to specify which variables should be used for the information you send to or receive from the integration. First select the drop-down menu in the Send section and select the variable `postalCode`.
4. Select the appropriate variables for all of the drop-down menus in the Receive section. These are the response code, celsius, city, country, fahrenheit, icon, and weather variables that you created earlier.

### Summarize weather
Let's finish off the structure of the flow to send the weather results to the user.

1. Click on the Plus icon underneath the integration node.
2. Click on Match, followed by Script.
3. Paste in the evaluation script `responseCode == 200`.
4. Give the transition a name like `Success`.
5. Select the output below the Success transition and give it the name `Summarize weather`.
6. In the output node, paste the answer `The weather is ${fahrenheit}°F or ${celsius}°C and ${weather}.`.

### Add a fallback transition
Finally, let's add a fallback transition in case the bot does not manage to successfully retrieve the weather based on the user's input.

1. Select the integration node and click on Output in the ribbon bar.
2. Give the output node the name `Something went wrong`. Reuse the same text for the output answer.
3. Click on the transition above the output node and give it a name like `Failed`.
4. Hit 'Save' and close the flow.

## Test in Tryout
It is now time to test out the conversation by giving a new postal code. 

1. Return back to your solution window and open Tryout. 
2. Click on 'Send' to trigger the Greeting Message for your bot. This action occurs automatically when you talk to a published bot.
3. Type 'Weather'
4. When prompted to enter a postal code, type: `98052`. This is the postal code for Redmond, WA.
5. You should see a message like this: 'The weather is 61°F or 16°C and partly cloudy'.

## Publish your bot
Now that we have a fully functioning bot, let's publish it to try talking to it online. 

To publish your bot, proceed as follows:
1. Open the 'SOLUTION' tab in the solution's window.
2. Select 'Publish'.
3. Click the 'Manage' button and in the drop-down you will see a lot of different alternatives. Locate the 'Latest' section and choose 'Publish'. 

You might see a warning saying '_Publish to 'Default env' stopped with warnings_. '

This is nothing to worry about; the warning is shown when you publish your solution for the first time or when you have made certain global changes. To proceed, just check the checkbox 'Perform full application deployment on Try again' and click the 'Try again' button. 

The publication may take a couple of minutes; the video below is sped up slightly. When it has finished, you'll receive a confirmation pop-up.

## Extend Teneo web Chat functionality
The Composer bot presents the weather information with a card and an icon, which is achieved using an attachment. In Teneo, we can achieve the same thing using the card functionality of Teneo Web Chat. Let's add that functionality now.

1. Open the Get weather flow in edit mode.
2. Navigate to the output node where the bot summarizes the weather information.
3. Locate the Output Parameters section in the configuration panel and click on 'Add'.
4. Give the output parameter the name `teneowebclient`.
5. Paste in the following value:

7. Republish your bot and try talking to it in Teneo Web Chat again to see the updated bot response.

!!! Note that the bot now gives two responses: the first that we added, which is shown as plain text, and the second, which is in the form of a card. The first could be removed if only the card is desired; however, note that the card will not show up as a response inside Tryout, unlike the first response.
